The cost of laser eye surgery
The treatment price includes the laser eye procedure, the detailed preliminary examination — during which various device-based measurements and an exact determination of your visual acuity are performed — as well as all necessary follow-up checks.
Our modern eye laser treatments, such as the SMILE® Pro or FEMTO-LASIK, are based on the latest technology and years of experience. The price reflects the high precision, safety and lasting visual quality we provide. With the Visumax 800 and the MEL 90 from Zeiss, we work with state-of-the-art technology in the field of refractive surgery.
Our advanced devices are very maintenance-intensive — an investment that directly benefits treatment quality and ensures maximum safety.
If other clinics advise against a SMILE® Pro procedure because it is supposedly “not worthwhile,” patients should ask critically whether that clinic actually offers and masters this method. Only those with the necessary technology and expertise can give a well-founded recommendation.
Interest-free installment payment and financing
We offer interest-free installments with a small down payment over 24 months for the cost of your laser eye treatment.
The cost of treatment can be a considerable burden for many people. With the 0% installment plan over 24 months, the monthly payments are manageable. Interest-free installment payment is available.
Saving costs in the long term with laser eye treatment
In principle, you save money in the long term with a laser treatment! After laser eye surgery, you typically no longer need visual aids such as glasses or contact lenses, which reduces ongoing costs.
Thanks to new technology in the field of eye lasers, we can correct a wide range of refractive errors with a short healing period. Your eyes will offer improved visual performance after recovery. Over the years, you will therefore save sustainably on costs.
Preliminary examination & costs for laser eye surgery
During a consultation and preliminary examination, you will learn the specific costs. The most suitable laser eye procedure for you will be selected and performed by the surgeon. Depending on the visual defect (e.g., astigmatism, nearsightedness or presbyopia) or eye disease and the resulting visual impairment, different correction methods are chosen.
Our prices include the procedure and all necessary preliminary and follow-up examinations up to one year after the procedure and are based on the fee schedule for doctors (GOÄ).
Before laser surgery, you will undergo a detailed preliminary examination. The corneal condition (including corneal thickness), intraocular pressure and retina are examined; it can also be determined whether you suffer from dry eyes.
This preliminary examination makes it possible to determine exactly which form of laser surgery is best for you and what costs will arise. The preliminary examination includes, for example, measuring your diopters. We use a variety of devices here, including those from the German company ZEISS and Oculus, to examine your eyes. When selecting our state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment equipment, we rely on the quality of international premium manufacturers. Combined with our experience from over 50,000 procedures, this enables the best treatment results and unprecedented vision.

Is laser eye surgery paid for by health insurance?
One of the most common questions is whether and when health insurance covers laser eye surgery. Some private health insurers cover part or all of the costs of laser eye treatment. Please check this directly with your private insurer.
Statutory health insurance
- For patients with statutory health insurance, the surgical costs are generally not covered. In any case, please contact your health insurance company to clarify.
- As a rule, you can deduct laser eye surgery as an extraordinary expense under § 33 EStG.
If a “medical necessity” is present, the costs for laser surgery (e.g., for cataracts) can be covered by statutory health insurance. Please clarify this in detail with your health insurer.

FAQs Eye lasers Costs
Is laser eye surgery paid for by health insurance?
Whether the costs of laser eye surgery are covered by health insurance usually depends on whether the procedure is medically necessary. There are differences between insurers, so you should clarify this directly with your health insurance company. Cataract treatment is generally covered, but typically only for the conventional manual surgical method and a standard intraocular lens.
How long does the eye laser last?
Although it is sometimes promised that laser eye treatment provides lifelong clear vision, this is not guaranteed in every case. Recurrent refractive errors are relatively rare and, in most cases, laser corrections last a lifetime. However, it remains possible to develop presbyopia later and need reading glasses, or for a cataract to impair your vision.
Does laser eye surgery have disadvantages?
There are also a few disadvantages to laser eye surgery:
There are certain risks, as with any surgical procedure
Side effects after treatment (such as itchy eyes) – you will, however, receive detailed advice on follow-up care
Health insurance may not cover the costs
Higher initial investment for laser treatment (we offer a 0% installment plan)
How painful is laser eye surgery?
To the question “Does laser eye surgery hurt?” the answer is clear: No. Laser eye surgery is generally painless. You will receive special eye drops before the operation. The procedure itself usually takes only a few minutes, depending on the treatment, and is painless.
