When are you suitable for laser eye treatment in Stuttgart?

SMILE® PRO in Stuttgart
The most advanced method of laser eye surgery in Stuttgart is the SMILE® PRO procedure, a further development of femto-LASIK and the former ReLEx SMILE. This method is even faster and gentler, as the actual laser step takes only about 10 seconds.
The minimally invasive procedure no longer requires a large corneal flap; a small incision of only 2 to 3 mm is sufficient. This fully maintains corneal stability and does not interfere with tear film regulation, minimizing the risk of dry eyes.
Patients benefit from a short, comfortable procedure and a faster recovery. The SMILE® PRO procedure is used in our modern centre in Stuttgart to treat myopia down to about -10 D and astigmatism up to about 5 D. The laser correction is performed on an outpatient basis and many patients are surprised at how fast and pain-free the procedure is.
The SMILE® PRO procedure uses the VisuMax 800 femtosecond laser from Zeiss and offers an excellent alternative to previous methods such as femto-LASIK, as most of the upper corneal layers remain untouched and stable.
LASIK laser eye treatment in Stuttgart
At our laser eye center in Stuttgart, we rely on a further development of the LASIK method: the so-called femto-LASIK. In this procedure we completely avoid mechanical cuts in the eye; the treatment is performed exclusively with lasers. As a result, femto-LASIK allows a gentler correction of vision compared to conventional LASIK.
In our centre we place special emphasis on detailed counselling and optimal patient care to answer all questions about laser eye surgery and LASIK. The LASIK method has been widely used since the 1990s and has been performed more than 40 million times worldwide. Parts of the cornea are reshaped to correct the refractive power so that light rays again focus precisely on the retina. This enables sharp vision without aids and significantly improves quality of life.
The advantages of the LASIK procedure include a short treatment time of only a few minutes and the option to perform the procedure on an outpatient basis under local anaesthesia. The spectrum ranges from astigmatism (up to approx. 6 diopters) and moderate myopia (up to -10 diopters) to hyperopia (up to +4 diopters).

Laser treatment for farsightedness in Stuttgart
Laser treatment for farsightedness in Stuttgart. Do you suffer from farsightedness? In hyperopia the eyeball is too short and a blurred image occurs for near vision – in some cases a significant restriction in everyday life.
Farsightedness cannot only be corrected with visual aids such as glasses or contact lenses. Bányai Ophthalmology offers laser operations for farsightedness in Stuttgart, as well as the use of ICL lenses and the PRESBYOND procedure for presbyopia.
Laser treatment for short-sightedness in Stuttgart
Laser treatment for short-sightedness in Stuttgart. If you suffer from myopia, this may be due to an eyeball that is too long. This causes a blurry impression in the distance, which glasses and contact lenses can only temporarily correct.
If, on the other hand, you are considering laser eye surgery for short-sightedness with us in Stuttgart, the goal is a permanent correction of your vision. For this purpose we offer the SMILE® PRO method as well as femto-LASIK, and also the implantation of ICL lenses – tailored to the individual needs of the patients.

FAQs Eye Lasers Stuttgart – All questions and answers
What eye laser methods are available in Stuttgart?
Laser eye surgery in Stuttgart offers a wide variety of eye laser methods and techniques with which the eye can be treated. Depending on the type of refractive error, the following are usually used:
SMILE® PRO
LASIK
Femto-LASIK
PRK
PRESBYOND
How much does laser eye surgery cost in Stuttgart?
Laser eye surgery in Stuttgart is a minor surgical procedure that is straightforward thanks to state-of-the-art equipment. Costs can vary depending on the type of treatment and therefore cannot be given as a flat rate. Arrange an initial consultation without obligation so that all cost questions can be fully clarified.
In general, our prices start from €990.00 per eye.
Lasik, Femto-Lasik or SMILE® Pro in Stuttgart, what’s the difference?
Femto-LASIK is an advanced form of LASIK treatment. With a suitable cornea, this method is used for myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism.
SMILE® PRO is considered the most modern form of laser eye surgery in Stuttgart and a further development of ReLEx SMILE. The SMILE® PRO method can be used for myopia, astigmatism and is now also applicable for certain cases of hyperopia.
A different method may also be chosen depending on the diopter value.
How can I finance laser eye surgery in Stuttgart?
If your health insurance company does not cover laser eye surgery in Stuttgart, you can arrange financing with our partner PVS. This financing allows you to set up a 24-month instalment plan.
When is it worth laser eye surgery?
It is worthwhile to consider laser eye surgery for refractive errors such as hyperopia, myopia, presbyopia or astigmatism from the age of 18. Above all, it is worthwhile for people who feel restricted or disturbed by visual aids or who experience limitations in daily life due to their refractive error.
How long does the eye laser last?
In principle, laser eye surgery for a given refractive error lasts a lifetime. However, it should be noted that laser eye surgery should only be performed from the age of 18. If eye growth is not yet complete at the time of the procedure, results can still change significantly.
In addition, laser eye treatment does not rule out the possibility of other eye conditions occurring in the future. For example, having laser surgery for myopia does not protect you from later presbyopia or cataracts.
What are the disadvantages of eye lasers?
Eye lasers have disadvantages – in principle there are few downsides, but the high costs are naturally a barrier for many. In many cases, however, health insurance covers all or part of the costs, and instalment payments are possible with some providers.
As with any procedure, complications can occur. To minimise these risks, choose a surgeon or ophthalmologist based on quality and expertise. Possible risks also depend strongly on the chosen laser method and on post-operative behaviour. It is important to follow the individual eye drop regimen and attend follow-up appointments.
Possible risks include infections, bleeding and swelling in the eye as well as immune reactions. These are, however, very rare. The benefits of laser eye surgery clearly outweigh the disadvantages. After treatment you can often see clearly again without the need for visual aids such as contact lenses or glasses. These aids can be inconvenient and may incur ongoing costs that you will no longer have.
How bad is laser eye surgery?
Laser eye surgery is now a routine procedure in ophthalmology. Since its invention the technology has improved significantly, so that laser eye surgery today is usually painless and very low-risk. The rumour that laser eye surgery can cause blindness is a myth.
With the lasers used today, refractive laser surgery is very safe. This is confirmed by several studies that examined patient satisfaction and the safety of laser procedures, such as the study on the ReLEx® SMILE procedure for the treatment of myopia and astigmatism – the predecessor of the SMILE® PRO method. Study: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34879853/
Can every eye be lasered in Stuttgart?
Whether an eye can be lasered in Stuttgart cannot be stated in general terms. First, the eye must be examined. During this examination the cornea is carefully inspected. The findings determine the best treatment approach for the eye.
What influence does the cornea have on laser eye surgery in Stuttgart?
In laser eye surgery in Stuttgart the cornea is examined in detail because corneal thickness varies between individuals. Therefore the best method for performing laser surgery on the cornea must be determined individually.
LASIK or femto-LASIK with laser eye surgery in Stuttgart?
Femto-LASIK is a further development of classic LASIK surgery. To decide whether LASIK, femto-LASIK or SMILE® PRO is the best option for you, we recommend a personal consultation in Stuttgart.
Can glaucoma be treated with lasers in Stuttgart?
Glaucoma refers to a group of eye diseases that damage the optic nerve. A typical symptom is increased intraocular pressure, often caused by impaired outflow of aqueous humour through the drainage angle. Glaucoma can develop gradually, but may also present suddenly in an acute attack. Pressure reduction can be achieved by procedures such as trabeculectomy. To treat glaucoma in a lasting and gentle way, surgical or laser procedures may be considered. It is possible to have glaucoma treated at one of our practice locations in the greater Stuttgart area.
